Evalyn Gertrude James was a painter, illustrator, craftsperson and
lecturer whose topics included "Art in Indiana" and "Chemically Related
Pigments for Artists." She chaired the Art Department and was
professor of Art at the Indiana State Teachers’ College (State Normal)
of Terre Haute, Indiana. She was also chairman of the State
Committee on Art Courses for Schools of Indiana.
