| | Born in New York on Feb. 21, 1910. Jene was the son of artists Violet and Oscar Jackman. He came to southern California with his parents in 1914. Raised in an artistic milieu, he began painting as a small child. By 1930 he had settled in Glendale and was an accomplished painter of the landscape near his home. He sometimes used the pseudonym Eugene Disney Jackman.
