This biography from the Archives of AskART:
An oil painting whose technique included using a palett knife, Jerry Jolley was also an are teacher as well as display designer for Sibley Lindsey & Curr Company in Rochester, New York from 1936-38.  For the Fairchild Company in Rochester from 1938 to 1941, she over saw packaging and children's game designs.  Following this period she moved to San Francisco, where she became Art Director for the Fleishhacker Paper Box Company from 1946-5.  She also did much free lance industrial design work in the San Francisco area, and wrote a book Palette Knife Painting Instruction that was published in 1968. 

Jolley's art education included sculpture and painting study at the Rochester Institute of Technology with watercolor lessons with Margaret Weston.  At the Rochester Memorial Art Museum, she took ceramics from Francis Denny, and at the University Washington, she studied plastics with Cora Scofield Johnson.  In New York City, Jolley took further watercolor lessons from Richard Yip and Eliot O'Hara.
