John LeRoy Jackson (1905-1992) studied at the National Academy School in New York under Ivan Olinksy, George Laurence Nelson and Francis C. Jones.
Jackson exhibited with the Southern States Art League in 1937, 1939, 1940, 1941, and 1942 and won an award for a watercolor still life entitled Dahlias in 1939 in San Antonio, Texas. Ben Shute also exhibited in 1939 with Jackson at the same Southern States Art League exhibit in San Antonio.
