This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Jonathan Janson studied at the Rhode Island School of Design in the 1970's. During his studies he traveled to Boston where he viewed the Vermeer painting "The Concert." Vermeer's work has come to have a great influence on his own painting and he also developed a few websites devoted to the great painter. In 2002 Hallmark commissioned Janson to paint a Vermeer-like painting to feature on one of its Hallmark Hall of Fame presentations entitled, "Brush with Fate."
