Joseph W. Johns c 1833-1877 Pennsylvania
Joseph W. Johns was born in Pennsylvania in c1833, aged 27 in 1860 (1860 US Census for Philadelphia, 13th Ward). He was associated with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and exhibited there.
The following is a review of his studio work, published in 1870 in the Philadelphia Press (30 March 1870): “Joseph Johns, the former curator of the Academy of Fine Arts, has a pleasant sunny little studio at No. 1214 W (showing 500 of 2501 characters). |
