| | Born in Murphy's Camp, CA on Feb. 10, 1857. Mary Ellen Jones was a lifelong resident of California. She studied at the School of Design under Williams, Kunath, and Wores. At age 36 she wed Louis Kast and settled in San Francisco. She died n San Rafael, CA on Dec. 25, 1942. Her rare works include genre, still lifes of grapes, and miniatures on ivory.
