This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Brooklyn, New York artist Matthew Day Jackson makes sculptures and drawings using found materials to construct objects that remind us of familiar historical and cultural symbols such as a Viking ship, a chandelier and a War World II tank barrier. The materials in his sculptures and installations force us to question our history, culture and politics.
Matthew Day Jackson earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Washington, Seattle and a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Rutgers University.
Jackson was the artist in residence at the Chinati Foundation in June of 2004.
