| | Born in Peoria, IL on May 2, 1889. Johnstonbaugh moved to Los Angeles in 1904. A self-taught artist, he was active in San Diego where he received encouragement from artists Mary Williams and Allen Hutchinson. He fulfilled sculpture commissions in San Diego and panels for the monastery in the Mission Inn in Riverside.
