Biography from Williams American Art Galleries:
Prescott M. M. “Mike” Jones, a known Rockport and WPA artist, was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1904. He began his education at Tufts University where he studied with Rockport artist William Hazelton. After graduating from Tufts, Jones enrolled at Vesper George School of Art in Boston.  His relationship with the school continued after his graduation when he later returned as a faculty member.

He began exhibiting in the 1930’s at Grace Horne Gallery and later at the Art Institute of Chicago and New York World’s Fair.  He received a Fellowship from the Tiffany Foundation in 1934 that allowed him to pursue his art even further.
