Hilda (Reba) R. Jeanson was born in New York on July 6th 1879 to Captain Robert E. Jeanson and Hilda Gustava Jeanson nee Rosenburg. Captain Jeanson had been the master of a vessel sailing the coast of Sweden before emigrating to America in 1865 where he was an agent for the American Emigration Company. He was ordained as a Baptist clergyman and organized the first Swedish Baptist church in New York in 1867.
