Rene Jansen was born May 3, 1956, in the Netherlands. From an early age, Jansen was exposed to art by his father, an art teacher at the local school. As a child, Rene was seldom without pencil and paper, drawing what he saw in nature. At age eight, his grandmother presented him with his first set of oils. He said: "I was to try my hand at colored composition. I was hooked from that moment on. I always knew that I wanted to be a painter."
