| | Born in Wisconsin on March 19, 1863. Addie was the wife of John C. Kleist. She left Milwaukee and settled in Santa Cruz in 1927. She died there on Dec. 14, 1953. A self-taught artist, her work includes still lifes and scenes of the Santa Cruz area. As well as a painter, she was also a poet and founder of the Santa Cruz Sonnet Club and member of the Edwin Markham Poetry Society of San Jose.
