Biography from Port Huron Museum:
Augustus F. Kenderdine was born near Blackpool, Lancashire, England, and received his first painting lessons from his godfather, Augustus Lafosse, at the Manchester School of Art. He subsequently studied at the Academie Julian under Jules Lefevre and returned to England where he opened an art shop and studio in Blackpool. He became known as a portraitist as well as a landscape painter and exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Royal Academy in 1901.

In 1908 he emigrated to Canada with his wife, son, and three daughters to homestead near Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. He moved to Saskatoon in 1922, accepting the offer of studio space at the University of Saskatchewan. He taught his first class in 1926-1927.

In 1935 he proposed a summer art school at Emma Lake, which he established the following year. Kenderdine was appointed Director and Professor of Art at the newly established School of Art at Regina College in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1936. He died in 1947 while conducting his annual summer school at Emma Lake.
