From an early age, B.J. Katz had artistic passions that were encouraged by her parents who introduced her to literature, theater, music, dance and a wide array of visual artists.
Painting and sculpture classes at the Art Institute of Chicago guided Katz toward a career of creating original works of art in the medium of glass. Art history from Northwestern University gave her background that gave her an understanding of contemporary art informed by the history of art.
