Barbara Kelley was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and then lived in the equally scenic states of Washington, Ohio, New Mexico, and California. These environments, in addition to her travels to Europe and China, provide her with visual inspiration which is expressed in her paintings, drawings and original prints.
Her work is best known for vibrant colors, abstract and strong graphic qualities. Art organization memberships include: the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the California Society of Printmakers, the Berkeley Arts Center Association, The Sebastopol Center for the Arts. She is also the past president of the North Coast Artists’ Guild, which represents artists from the coastal areas of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, in California. Formal college level art education began in 1968 and included undergraduate degree and graduate level courses. She continues to take private printmaking classes and occasionally teaches printmaking. Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries, through the National Arts Program, and in numerous corporate exhibits. It has also been entered into many juried shows and received “Best in Show” awards. Her work is in private collections of many patrons throughout the U.S., Europe, and Australia.
