This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in London, England on Jan. 13, 1898. Beulah Harper grew up and studied art in London. After her marriage to Michael Kosty in 1918, the couple lived in NYC until 1924 when they moved to California. Upon settling in Oakland, Mrs. Kosty continued her art studies at the CCAC and Mills College. She exhibited with the SWA and over the years her paintings won many awards at California State Fairs and Mother Lode Fairs. Her works were shown in both group and solo shows at the CPLH, De Young Museum, Oakland Art Gallery, as well as in Carmel and Sacramento. In 1952 the Kostys moved to Carmel where she remained until her death on March 27, 1979. An Impressionist, she specialized in street scenes of San Francisco, Paris, and London.
