Biography from AskART:
Kare (Charles) Anton Kaeselau was born on June 26, 1889, in Stockholm, Sweden, and died in Boston on June 25, 1972. Kaeselau is pronounced Kay-slo.

Charles Kaeselau, a painter, teacher and lithographer, studied at the Kensington School of Art in London, at the Academy Julian in Paris, and from 1911 to 1915 at the Art Institute of Chicago. He also studied with Jaoquin y Sorolla and Charles W. Hawthorne.

His work is represented in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Whitney Museum in New York, and the Phillips Memorial Gallery in Washington, D.C. Kaeselau was also a WPA (Works Progress Administration) artist whose murals are in the Post Office of Concord, Massachusetts.

He taught painting and composition in Boston at the Child Walker School of Art and the Stuart School of Design. From 1922 on he lived in Provincetown, where he had a painting school.

He was a member of the Boston Watercolor Society, the Provincetown Art Association and the American Artists League. Exhbition venues included the Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy, Whitney Museum of American Art and the Corcoran Gallery.
