Chris Knipp went to a one-room schoolhouse in Williamsburg, Virginia, where his father taught Shakespeare and played the horses. Knipp has been a soldier, Arabist, teacher, and long-distance runner. He grew up in Baltimore and has lived in New York, Cairo, Rabat, and San Francisco.
