Born in Smithville, Ohio on September 2, 1834, David Kindleberg, after graduating from Wittenberg College in 1857, entered the U.S. Navy as a surgeon. During the Civil War he was present at most important naval engagements.
From 1869 to 1871 he was stationed aboard the Independence at Mare Island near San Francisco. A talented amateur, while in California he painted several landscapes of the area which he exhibited locally.
During 1877-80 he was Fleet Surgeon of the (showing 500 of 2499 characters). |
