| Engraver and portrait painter, Dennison Kimberly was born in Guilford, Connecticut. He studied engraving under Asaph Willard of Hartford and worked primarily in Boston during the 1840's. In 1858 he turned to painting and eventually abandoned engraving. Kimberly studied in Boston, and in 1862 opened studios in Hartford and Manchester, Connecticut. The following year he died.
