This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Note from Joe Wade, October 2003

Born in Crescent City, California

Keller did much illustration work of Tin-Pan-Alley songs, many of them minstrel tunes, with M Whitmark & Sons Co.

Note from Louise Thunen, October 2004

The following information is written on the back of a painting I possess:

"This picture was painted by Edgar Keller - 1928. It was painted for Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Lee. The Kellers made their home at the Giant (or Grant) Redwood Camp at that time, while Mr. Keller painted many beautiful scenes of the Redwoods and the beaches. He also prepared a model of the California Bear to be used as bridge heads on the Dr.(?) Douglas bridge. This however was not accepted though the bear was much more animated and beautiful than the one chosen at Sacramento and many people felt that our Del Norte artist should have had the honor.

Nell Keller, Edgar's wife is an artist in her own right. Her talents were encouraged and fostered by her husband who had a fine perception of color and would point out the different shades of shadows and objects as (sic) driving along in the car. One could not but be charmed by the beauty of every "small" object thus observed.
