A painter and craftsman, Emil Kosa Sr. was born in Czechoslovakia and
emigrated to America in 1907 after working with his father as a maker
of theater marionettes and in Paris as an assistant to Alphonse
Mucha.
By 1922, he was in Los Angeles with his son, Emil Jr., born in 1903.
Emil Kosa Sr. did paintings of figures from his hand-made puppet models.
Exhibition
venues included the California Art Club, the Painters and Sculptors of
Los Angeles and the Pom (showing 500 of 790 characters). |
