| | Born in Wisconsin on July 17, 1873. Kamps settled in Los Angeles in 1899. For many years he maintained an art supplies store there. In his leisure he painted, often accompanied by his pupil Lionel Barrymore. Kamps died in Los Angeles on Aug. 29, 1952. | Source:
