This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Des Moines, IA on Jan. 6, 1881.  Keffer studied with Frank Brangwyn, Alexander Robinson, Ossip Linde, and at the Pratt Institute.  She was a resident of her native city until about 1920 and then moved to San Diego, CA.  She taught at an art school there for several years, and appears to have divided her time between San Diego and Hillsdale, NJ until the early 1940s.  A spinster, she died in San Diego on March 21, 1953.  She was the sister of artist Florence Hale. 

Exh:  Des Moines Women's Club, 1912 (award); NAD, 1919; San Diego Art Guild, 1940-42; Nat'l Ass'n of Women Painters & Sculptors.  In:  Des Moines Public Schools.
