Biography from Alphanautical Gallery:
| Born in 1952 in Munich, Germany, Frank Kecskes, Jr. immigrated to Southern California with his family when he was only three months old. As a young child, he sketched and painted, encouraged and directed by his father, the late Frank Kecskes, Sr., a direct descendant of the renowned Hungarian painter Sandor Bihari. The father, himself a dedicated artist, taught his son the rudiments of fine art. He occasionally instructed young Kecskes in one-on-one tutoring sessions, but most often it was through observation that the budding artist learned the basic skills of painting from his father.
As Kecskes has declared in reference to him, "I simply absorbed subconsciously what my father did".
After completing his secondary school education, Kecskes went on to study physics at the California State University at Long Beach. It was, however, only after he left his university studies that he began to more seriously consider his artwork.
Today, Kecskes continues to reside in California, pursuing his musical interests (he plays the guitar) and studying astronomy in his spare time. Citing Albert Bierstadt as his favorite artist, Frank Kecskes, Jr. also enjoys collecting the works of contemporary California realists.
