This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Grenaa, Denmark on Nov. 22, 1896. Korburg studied at the Graphic Art Center in Copenhagen and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Germany under Max Lieberman . After coming to California in 1920, he further studied with Armin Hansen in Carmel. Upon settling in San Francisco, he went to work as a cartoonist for the Call-Bulletin in 1924 and in time became its art director. He became well known for his cartoons of political, theatrical, and sporting events which were distributed widely by the Hearst papers. Upon retirement from newspaper work in 1961, he returned to fine art and painted many coastals, missions, and scenes of Denmark where he often visited. Korburg died in San Mateo, CA on Nov. 23, 1986. Exh: SFAA, 1937; Oakland Art Gallery, 1937.
