George Kars was a noted painter of the School of Paris, and part of the circle of Montparnasse. He was a colleague of Paul Klee, Juan Gris and Maurice Utrillo. He was educated at the Prague School and the Munich Academy.
Kars was born Jiri Karpeles to parents of German origin just outside of Prague, Czechoslavakia. Taking a very early interest in drawing, he frequented a certain Lheman painting gallery at the end of his school days. He attended the Salons of Prague (showing 500 of 3517 characters). |
