From his studio in a barn on his property in Riverdale, Maryland, Gerald King paints representational and modernist landscapes and figural works, many of them copies of paintings from the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. He has been a part of the Gallery's copyist program, of which there are about forty approved participants.
One of his favorite artists to copy is Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun, French 19th century court painter to Marie Antoinette.
