| A painter of miniatures, she also authored several books and created sculptures. Helen Gwendolyn Kelley was born in Columbus, Ohio, on November 10, 1877, and studied at the Academie Julian as well as Academie Colarossi in Paris, France. In 1895, she studied with Louis Gallert and exhibited a drawing at the Paris Salon. She traveled to Rome, Italy, where she was decorated by Queen Margherita of Italy for her miniature paintings.
Back in the United States, she exhibited 15 of her miniatures in 1896 at the Laura Memorial Exhibition in Cincinnati. In 1898, she exhibited at the National Academy of Design as well as the Trans.-Mississippi Expo. in Omaha, Nebraska. Known as "Gwendolyn Kelley" " Helen Gwendolyn Kelley" "Gwendolyn Dunlevy Kelley" " Gwendolyn Dunlevy Kelley Hack" "Gwendolyn Kelley Hack," she exhibited in 1917 as "Mrs. Charles Wesley" at the Society of Independent Artists.
