A teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia, Helen King studied at De Pauw University and received a B.A. degree from Northwestern University. She also studied at the Art Students League in New York City and earned an M.A. from Columbia University.
Maintaining her roots with Indiana, she was a member of the Hoosier Salon, and also was a member of the National Association of Women Artists and the Richmond Art Association.
