Hilma Af Klint was born in Sweden in 1863; she came from a prominent naval and scientific family. She was a respected member of the Swedish academy and began her career in the conventional way, making portraits, landscapes and still lifes. But she was not like most people, and she knew it. Even as a child, she experienced inexplicable visions of the future. Religion, especially Christianity, became an important part of her life and she gave the spirits credit for embarking her on (showing 500 of 1599 characters). |
