| Born in Seattle, WA on June 9, 1908. By the 1920s Josephine Young had moved to Los Angeles. She received her B.A. degree from UCLA, M.F.A. from USC, and was a pupil of Millard Sheets at the Chouinard School. In 1931 she wed Ralph Kopenhaver. She exhibited extensively in California from the 1930s until the early 1960s. She taught art for many years at Los Angeles City College and was secretary of the California Watercolor Society.
