This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted February 2005, is from the artist.

Kelly A. Keigwin was born and raised in the high desert of California where she studied art, primarily painting and drawing, at Palmdale High School and Antelope Valley College. She was inspired to pursue art after taking high school art classes with Ms. Robin Young, who encouraged non-traditional ways of producing work.

Kelly Keigwin received her AA Degree in 1987 and moved to San Diego, California to attend San Diego State University to pursue her BA Degree. During this time she began working as a self-taught photographer and quickly became known for her dark and intimate feeling photographs of the people in her life. She worked primarily photographing bands and other local personalities.

In 1996 Keigwin moved to Vancouver, Washington and worked as a picture framer while trying to establishing herself locally as a photographer. In 2004, she began painting again and quickly found herself part of the Portland, Oregon art scene. This success inspired her to branch out into various new techniques including mixed media/collage, decorative boxes, hand-made cards, and silk-screened clothing.

Her paintings are in permanent collections at Rice University, Houston, TX; Kulshan College of Intuitive Medicine, Bellingham, WA; Duke Energy, Houston, TX; Leadership Resources, Inc., Gualala, CA; Strategic Choice, Inc., Birmingham, AL; The Biz, LLC, Royal Oak, MI. In addition, she has sold artwork to collectors throughout the United States and countries abroad including Australia, Japan, England, Canada and Germany. Keigwin has also created personal works for such celebrities as Louie Anderson, Sarah McLachlan and The Indigo Girls.

In the fall of 200, Keigwin was contacted and commissioned by Money Magazine, Inc. to create 5 pieces, including a new cover concept, for the 2005 launch of "the new image of Money". The growing interest in Keigwin's work prompted the release of a collection of her photographs. The result is "Kelly A. Keigwin: A Decade of Portraits 1993-2003", issued in 2005 and a photographic diary of her friends and family.
