Abstract painter Ken Kelly was born in 1955 in Magnolia, Arkansas, and settled in Seattle, Washington. He attended Birmingham-Southern College, Alabama, 1973-74; received his BFA degree from the University of Georgia, Athens, 1974-77; with further work at the University of Arizona, Tucson, 1979-81.
Kelly makes decorative paintings -- up to eight-feet-square in size -- with simple, enlarged patterns, either geometric or Rorschach-like in design that edge toward symbolic expression.
