The following information was provided by the artist January 2006;
Kraa was born in Munich, Germany, and became a naturalized American citizen in 1962. She now lives and works in New Jersey. She received a Bachelor's degree at Douglass College in New Jersey, and a Master's of Fine Arts from Rutgers University in 1965. The artist studied with Ulfert Wilke, a lyrical abstract expressionist and Roy Lichtenstein, the father of Pop Art.
In Kirsten Kraa's paintings there is an everyman whose eyes connect with the viewer. Included in the paintings are images that have a trompe l'oeil characteristic, while keeping with a Pop Art style.
One paintings was part of the movie set, "Boeing Boeing" starring Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis.
