| | He arrived in Los Angeles as a small child and grew up there. After graduating from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, he was the architect of Temple Shalom of Santa Monica and Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills. He also did set designs for RKO, 20th Century, and other movie studios. For his civic work, a grove of trees was named for him in Pan Pacific Park.
