Martin Kainz, German/American Expressionist painter, was born in the tiny village of Herbertshausen near Munich, Germany on May 7, 1899. Working at an early age in a paint factory led him to the pursuit of art. He studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, 1922-1926, and emigrated to the United States later that same year and settled in New York City.
His first American one-man show was at the Ralston Gallery, NY in 1927. Additional exhibitions of his work were held at the Kasper Galler (showing 500 of 1856 characters). |
