Biography from AskART:
| Michael Kuch was born on October 9th, l965 and grew up in northern Vermont. He began drawing in pen and ink at the age of eleven and the following year had a one-person show at a local museum. He remained self-taught until entering Hampshire College in 1982 when he came under the wing of Leonard Baskin.
For five years after receiving his B.A., Kuch continued to work closely with Baskin as his assistant, printing etchings for Baskin's Gehenna Press in Northampton, Massachusetts. Kuch began his own Double Elephant Press in 1994 with the publication of his limited edition fine-art book entitled, 'A Plague on Your House.' The book sold out and is now housed in the collections of Yale's and Harvard's rare book libraries.
The fourth book from the Double Elephant Press, Apocalypse Clocks, was completed in 2000. Most recently, Michael Kuch collaborated with cellist Matt Haimovitz, soprano Eileen Clark, and producer/composer Luna Pearl Woolf to create a limited edition, multi-media fine press book entitled, 'Lemons Descending.'
