Mikhail Georgievich Kozell was born in 1911 in Astrakhan on the Volga river. to actor parents. Much of his youth was spent touring the Volga zone with his father’s Red Army theater. At the age of eleven or twelve he began to frequent the Astrakhan Art Teachers’ Training School founded and directed by the artist P.A. Vlasov.
In 1930, after training under Vlasov, Kozell moved to Leningrad in order to enter the Repin Institute. However, upon arriving Kozell decided to post (showing 500 of 1877 characters). |
