This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Ben E. Kozlovsky Sr.

Nancy Circelli Kominsky, born 1915 in Philadelphia, was an Italian-American artist, author of 12 books on painting and pastels, and an international television personality.  Her series "Paint Along with Nancy Kominsky" was on PBS and UK-78 one-half hour TV programs from 1974 to 1980.

She was a portrait painter, an international lecturer, teacher and author.  Demonstrating talent at a very early age, as a young woman she received extensive formal training in the arts.  She studied at the Graphic Sketch Club in Philadelphia PA.; Cooper Union, New York City; and under Theodore Lukits, well-known portrait painter in California.

In the 1960's at the age of 47, having subordinated her career in the arts for 20 years to marriage, Nancy divorced and returned to her one great passion in life - her art.  In 1963 Nancy and her son Michael opened the "Sunday Painters of Burbank - the Left Bank in Burbank" where Nancy started successful oil painting classes for the "rich and famous".

However in 1966 Nancy decided sell everything and to move to Italy.  She sold about 60 of her paintings done in class and had just enough money to get her to Italy plus have about two months living expenses.  Once in Italy she rented a studio, named it "The Sunday Painters of Rome" and started teaching her common sense-to-the-common man painting technique with a relatable cooking metaphor- mixing color using recipes with teaspoons etc. Her art classes were a financial success, and she was encouraged by friends and students to write a book using her teaching technique to recipes.

This was the first of 12 books she was ultimately to write with the hope that she could provide a positive and motivational effect on thousands of lives.

Nancy Kominsky, at 86 years of age, lived in Wimbledon, England with her second husband, Patrick Wodehouse, nephew of P.G. Wodehouse, and former student, whom she married in 1983 in London.  She continued to write and paint and worked on several books simultaneously including, the Art of Survival and the loosely autobiographical, Pigeon in Rome.

On March 11, 2011, Nancy Kominsky died in London.
