A figure and portrait painter, Nick Kosciuk depicts orphaned children
from Belarus, a republic in Eastern Europe that declared its
independence from Russia in 1991. He has visited on twelve trips
and for his future paintings, has taken thousands of photographs, many
of them of children whose problems he has learned from them
firsthand. On each trip, he usually spends about six weeks
with the children, playing with them, taking them out for food, etc.
