| Born in San Francisco, CA on April 28, 1884. Peter’s father, Francis, did inlaid woodwork on furniture and built the unique family home on the corner of Richland and Murray streets where Peter was raised. At 17 he entered the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and began painting china. He then opened a studio at 140 Geary where he continued as a china decorator as well as painting oils on canvas. After the 1906 disaster destroyed his studio, Kawalkowski moved across the bay to Oakland. There he est (showing 500 of 783 characters). |
