Peter Kramer, originally surnamed Kraemer, a painter, miniaturist, watercolorist and lithographer, was born in Bavaria, Germany in1823. He immigrated to the United States in 1848 and settled in Philadelphia where he worked for Peter S. Duval until 1857.
His most well known lithographs were of Civil War scenes which later afforded him the opportunity to paint the life portraits of the Generals made famous in that war. For a brief period in the 1850s (1850 or 1851) Kramer (showing 500 of 1239 characters). |
