This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| | Born in Korea, she came to America in 1990 and remains a student of ancient Korean literature. Her work is basically monochromatic abstract patches of color, and she layers her canvases with paper reprinted with 16th-century Korean essays and poems that detail Confucian moral standards. She covers that medium with paint and writes over it with autobiographical text of ancient characters. The underlying themes relate to her frustrations as a woman and a Korena living in the United States. |
