| Valerie Gretchen Tracewell Kaun was born in Kansas in 1891. Val Kaun studied in Chicago at the Academy of Fine Art and AIC during 1910-14. By 1922 she had settled in Berkeley, CA with her husband Alexander Kaun, a professor of slavic languages at UC. She taught life modeling at the CCAC during 1927-31 and lived in Berkeley until widowed in 1944. Mrs. Kaun then returned to Kansas. An advocate of modern art, her works are abstractions in mixed media, lead, or stone.&n (showing 500 of 746 characters). |
