This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biography, submitted February 2007, is from the artist, whose previous name was Dee Wewer.

Wewer Keohane is a mixed media artist with works in the permanent collections of several museums, including the L’Eventail, Paris, France; National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.; and the New Orleans Museum of Art.  Wewer grew up in Europe and was very influenced by constant travel and visits to museums in many countries.  Her work has been exhibited from the Florence Bienale to the Bronx Museum and many museums in between.  Her work is an expression of her inner journey, dreams and life experience.  Critics have compared her contextual work to the work of Frida Kahlo.

She lives on Cattle Creek in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado.  She obtained a Ph.D. in the Creative Arts from Union University and has spent over 20 summers at the artists colony, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, which she considers her artistic mecca.
