Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Miniature painter. Born in Dresden, Germany on Nov. 7, 1872. Alice was the daughter and pupil of Julius Ludovici. She moved to the U.S. with her father as an infant and lived in NYC until 1889. Upon moving to California at that time, she lived in San Francisco briefly before settling in Pasadena. She died there on April 6, 1957. Her specialty was miniature portraits, both on ivory and in pastels. Exh: Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909 (silver medal); Calif. Society of Mm. Painters, 1914 (gold medal); Calif.-Panama Expo (San Diego), 1915 (gold medal); PRE, 1915; American Society of Min. Painters. AAA 1919-33; Women of the West, 1928; SCA; WWAA 1936-42; WWC 1942; FId; AAW.
