| Andrew Lattimore was encouraged as a child to pursue his love of painting by his mother and artist father who had studied in France with Jean Leon Gerome.
Lattimore had a private tutor as a child and at 17 attended the National Academy of Design. Upon graduation he went to Italy were he studied for two years with Nerina Simi. He then went to England to study landscape painting in the manner of John Constable and JMW Turner.
