| Arthur Whitebear Litts was born in New York on Aug. 21, 1878. Litts was a native American who was a member of the Iroquois Nation (Oneida and Mohawk). His early years were spent along the Canadian-New York border. He adopted the name Litts to avoid being put on a reservation. After studying law through a correspondence course, he obtained a degree to practice law, just as Abraham Lincoln did. He was a resident of Des Moines, IA in 1920 and soon moved to California.& (showing 500 of 781 characters). |
